Karathe (Bitter gourd) Kismuri

Ingredients: 1 small bitter gourd, 2 finely chopped onion, 3 tbsps coconut gratings, 2 tsps coriander seeds, 3 tsps red chilli powder, a small bits of tamarind and salt.

Method:  Cut the bitter gourd to small pieces. Add 1/2 tsp salt and mix well. Keep for 15 mins. Heat oil in kadai for deep frying. Squeeze the bitter gourd pieces and add to hot oil. Fry till golden brown. Drain. Grind coconut, coriander, red chilli powder and tamarind into a rough powder, do not add water. In a bowl, mix together the ground coconut, chopped onions and the bitter gourd pieces. Add salt.
